Associative transfer in verbal paired-associated learning.
نویسنده
چکیده
Associative transfer was explored in the A-B, A-C and A-B, A-Br paradigms under three levels of stimulus similarity using an A-B, C-D control comparison. Three groups, differing in degree of structural similarity, learned two mixed lists of CVC trigrams by the anticipation method. A total of 90 sixth grade Ss were used. The effect of paradigms was highly siAnificant, with both the A-B, A-C and A-B, A-Br paradigms demonstrating negative transfer. Some evidence was found for increasing negative transfer as stimulus similarity increased.

Episodic memory and learning in patients with chronic schizophrenia.
This study explored the pattern of memory functioning in 58 patients with chronic schizophrenia and compared their performance with 53 normal controls. Multiple domains of memory were assessed, including verbal and non-verbal memory span, verbal and non-verbal paired associate learning, verbal and visual long-term memory, spatial and non-spatial conditional associative learning, recognition mem...
متن کاملSleep shelters verbal memory from different kinds of interference.
STUDY OBJECTIVES Studies have shown that sleep shelters old verbal memories from associative interference arising from new, more recently acquired memories. Our objective is to extend the forms of interference for which sleep provides a sheltering benefit to non-associative and prospective interference, and to examine experimental conditions and memory strengths for which sleep before or after ...
متن کاملVerbal and novel multisensory associative learning in adults
To date, few studies have focused on the behavioural differences between the learning of multisensory auditory-visual and intra-modal associations. More specifically, the relative benefits of novel auditory-visual and verbal-visual associations for learning have not been directly compared. In Experiment 1, 20 adult volunteers completed three paired associate learning tasks: non-verbal novel aud...

متن کاملAn evil face? Verbal evaluative multi-CS conditioning enhances face-evoked mid-latency magnetoencephalographic responses
Humans have a remarkable capacity for rapid affective learning. For instance, using first-order US such as odors or electric shocks, magnetoencephalography (MEG) studies of multi-CS conditioning demonstrate enhanced early (<150 ms) and mid-latency (150-300 ms) visual evoked responses to affectively conditioned faces, together with changes in stimulus evaluation. However, particularly in social ...
